The Great Divide: 

• The Gentiles (11-12): Far from God, his purposes & privileges, and his people
• The Jews: near to God - they are his people, partners in his purposes & privileges
• These differences led to hostility (though they didn’t need to!)

One Family in Jesus the Messiah:

• On the cross, Jesus destroyed the barrier dividing them (14)
• On the cross Jesus put to death their hostility toward each other (16)
• On the cross, Jesus reconciled both to God  (15)
