Lesson 1: As a Christian, you are now in Christ.
“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 1:1)
Lesson 2: Since you are in Christ, you belong to a new family.
“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.” (3:14)
“Therefore, remember that at one time.… (2:11)
‘But now in Christ Jesus you … have been ….” (2:13)
“So then you are no longer …..” (2:19)
Lesson 3: Since you belong to a new family, you must make every effort to keep the unity of the family.
“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called…eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (4:1, 3)
Lesson 4: The unity of our family, the church, ought to be a portrait of Jesus.
“When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ.” (3:4)
“This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.” (3:6)
“So that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.” (3:10)
Take Home Idea When the world looks at the church, the portrait of Jesus that they should see the clearest is one of a Savior who reconciles.
