Jesus, the Son of God, is one with us in our humanity.  

• Like us, Jesus had a human body. 2:9, 11, 14.

• Like us, Jesus had to trust in God. 2:13

• Like us, Jesus faced temptation. 2:18; 4:15-16 

• Like us, Jesus endured suffering. 2:18

Why does it matter?

• Because of Jesus’ human nature, He could deal with our sin. 2:14-17

• Because of Jesus’ human nature, He can understand us. 2:10, 18, 4:15-16

• Because of Jesus’ human nature, His triumph brings us glory. 2:10

Take Home Idea:  When we grasp His humanity, we can know that He is our redeemer and champion.
