Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Instructions that Moses gave the Israelites to keep the great command: 

• Impress them on your children. (Deut. 6:7)
• Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deut. 6:7)
• Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. (Deut. 6:8)
• Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deut. 6:9)

Practical applications for parenting:

• Make God your #1  priority. (Matthew 22:36-38)
• Incorporate God into all aspects of your home life. (Colossians 3:17)
• Depend on a community to help influence your children. (2 Timothy 1:5 )
• Pray to God on behalf of your children. (Mark 10:16)
