Kingship Reimagined
Speaker: Jay Pound Series: First Free Church Sermons Scripture: Matthew 21:1–11
Jesus' entry into Jerusalem is an intentional, public claim to kingship (21.5; Zech. 9.9)
- The crowds respond by hailing him as the Son of David - a royal title (21.9).
But what kind of King?
- Peaceful (Zech. 9.9; 26.55).
- Gentle & humble in heart (Zech. 9.9, Mt. 11.29).
- Servant of others who gives his life for them (20.25-28, Passover!).
Under the Kingship of Jesus, there is no higher calling than to serve others (Mt. 25.45).
Discussion Questions
