Reflections on Revelation
Speaker: Jay Pound Series: Unveiled: the Apocalypse of John Scripture: Revelation 1:1
Why bother with this strange and confusing book?
- Reliability: Against every possible expectation, the Roman Empire crumbled and the church flourished (17.15-18).
- Relevance: Like the seven churches, we live after the coming of Kingdom, but before the end of the old order Rv. 5.9-10; 21.4)
- “Already! But not yet.”
- Urgency: “Do not seal this scroll!”(Rv. 22.10; cf. Dn. 8.26)
Application: The time to choose who you will follow is now. He is coming soon! (22.7, 12, 20).
Discussion Questions
- Explain the concept of “already, but not yet” in your own words. Why should it give us confidence to face persecution and trials?
- What is one thing you learned in this series that surprised, encouraged or challenged you?
