Reflections on Revelation

Why bother with this strange and confusing book? 

• Reliability: Against every possible expectation, the Roman Empire crumbled and the church flourished (17.15-18).
• Relevance: Like the seven churches, we live after the coming of Kingdom, but before the end of the old order Rv. 5.9-10; 21.4)
  • “Already! But not yet.”
• Urgency: “Do not seal this scroll!”(Rv. 22.10;  cf. Dn. 8.26)

Application: The time to choose who you will follow is now. He is coming soon! (22.7, 12, 20).

1. Explain the concept of “already, but not yet” in your own words. Why should it give us confidence to face persecution and trials?
