The Final Judgment

Speaker: Paul Anleitner Series: Unveiled: the Apocalypse of John Scripture: Revelation 1:1

The way of the DragonIt doesn’t really care about you; it cares about taking something from you.

The Battle Tactics of the Lamb

  • Proclamation of the Truth.
  • Faithful, Righteous Living.
  • Notplaying by the rules of Team Dragon.

Some important symbols in these chapters

  • The Harlot: The deceptions of Team Dragon that offer temporary pleasure and "consummation" without commitment; a parody of true joy, pleasure, and fulfillment we get from our union with the Lamb
  • The Wedding Supper: The final, perfect union (consummation) of God with His people and the joining of Heaven and Earth.
  • Fine Linen: Explicitly defined as the "righteous acts of the saints"—the "uniform" of the faithful.
  • White Horse Rider: A symbol of Christ’s victory and a "Triumphal Procession" (subverting Roman military parades).
  • The Sword from the Mouth: The Word of God; the power of Truth to transform nations rather than physical violence.
  • Robe Dipped in Blood: Christ’s own sacrifice; the victory is won by His blood shed before the battle even begins.
  • 1,000 Years: A symbolic number representing a period of "fullness" or "completeness" in God's timing, rather than a literal calendar date.
  • The Lake of Fire: A symbolic call back to Sodom and Gomorrah. The "final incinerator"; the definitive end of everything that destroys or corrupts God's creation (including Death and Hades).

Discussion Question

  • We often get small tastes of that future wholeness through the Holy Spirit in moments of worship, service, or prayer. Can you share a specific time or "glimpse" where you felt that sense of joy, peace, and deep fulfillment with God?
