The Dragon’s War

Speaker: Jay Pound Series: Unveiled: the Apocalypse of John Scripture: Revelation 12:1–17

This vision is an apocalypse that reveals a deeper truth about Satan’s defeat and present activity.

Dramatis Personae

  • The male child: Jesus, The Christ, Ruler of all the Nations (Rv. 12.5, Ps. 2)
  • The woman: The Messianic community - Old & New Covenant - true Israel (12.17; Gn. 37.9-11).

The Story

  • The victory of Jesus on the cross results in Satan’s banishment from heaven (12.5, 7-10).
  • But woe to the earth, he is filled with fury for his time is short (12.12).
    • He can still cause great damage, but he cannot win! (12.15, 17).
    • Because we are united with Christ, we share in his victory (12.11).

Application
