Team Lamb

Speaker: Paul Anleitner Series: Unveiled: the Apocalypse of John Scripture: Revelation 1:10–18, Revelation 4:1–11, Revelation 5:2–10, Revelation 12:7–11

Review of Last Week

  1. Revelation: For us, but not written to us.
  2. The genre of this book is “apocalyptic literature,” and it follows the normal conventions of this genre, which everyone in the original author’s audience would have been familiar with.

The Apocalypse of John is not primarily about future predictions. It’s about:

1.

2.

3.

The Cosmic Struggle in this book is between Team Lamb and Team Dragon

Conclusion and Application

The gap between Ultimate Reality and our present moment, which is not fully set right, is closed by living in The Way of Jesus. Those that live in his way, on Team Lamb, cooperate in his final triumph over darkness.

Instead of practical applications, the larger goal of Revelation is about proper orientation: Look up!

Discussion Questions

  1. What are some of the common ways you’ve seen the book of Revelation mishandled, and how would you explain to a friend what this book is really about?
  2. Where do you experience resistance in your life with living in that picture of Ultimate Reality where Christ is enthroned? What makes it difficult to trust that this is true, and that He will set things right?
