The Gospel, According to Matthew

For Matthew, the good news is the story of how God brings his Kingdom and rule to earth in the person and work of Jesus.

Jesus called his followers to a life of radical loyalty to God and joyful service characterized by genuine love for others

Jesus offers full participation in his Kingdom freely to all people on equal terms.

• What are some present day situations where the good news of God’s Kingdom and rule might provide much needed hope?
• Why do you think we find it easier to live by legalistic lists of rules instead of Jesus’ broader entreaty to a life of radical loyalty to God? 
• What people or groups don’t see the gospel as good news today? How can we help them see that more clearly?
