Jesus is God for Us

When God shows up, will he bring judgment or rescue? And for whom? (Mal. 3.1-3)

• Will God be for the righteous few and against sinners? (Pharisees)
• Will God be for Israel against Rome? (Zealots)
• Or… Will God be for all humanity and against sin & evil? (Hebrews 2)

God’s original intent: to partner with humanity in ruling creation (Hb. 2.1-8, cf. Ps. 8, Gn, 1.26-28)

Yet at present…this is not what we see (Hb. 2.8b)

• Instead, humanity became enslaved to sin and death (Hb. 2.15)

So what will God do now?

Jesus took on flesh to rescue all people and destroy Satan (Hb. 2.14-15)
