A Guide to Good Stewardship
Speaker: Jay Pound Series: The Guide Topic: Caring for creation
Creation is good! God wants humanity both to enjoy creation and to partner with him in its flourishing (Gn. 1).
- The law was to transform them into good stewards who embody God’s own wise management and genuine care for creation. .
Wise Management:
- Planting Fruit Trees (Lv. 19.23-25)
- Eating Eggs (Dt. 22.6-7)
- Acting in a way that promotes the life and growth of creation both honors God and produces increased blessing for us.
Genuine Care:
- Do not yoke an Ox and a Donkey (Dt. 22.10)
- Do not muzzle an Ox while it treads the grain (Dt. 25.4).
- Tithing from your herds (Ex. 22.30).
- We should act in a way that reflects God’s own care and delight for what he has made
When followers of Jesus genuinely care for and enjoy creation, we honor the creator and we make the biblical story and hope more credible.
