“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.” (Exodus 20:8-10)
God’s rest; humanities’ mess. (Genesis 2:1-3, 3:17)
Why was this commandment given? (Exodus 20:8-11; Deut. 5:12-15)
- A pointer to God’s strength and God’s sufficiency.
What about today? (Mark 2:27; Matthew 11:28)
- Jesus invites us to a “Sabbath” written on the heart.

- Start where you are, not where you “should” be.
- Think subtraction, not addition.
- Worship
Take Home Idea: In the midst of our mess, Jesus invites us into His rest; a rest in the completed and finished work of God.
