Jesus Gets Excitement

Jesus knows excitement.

 “At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, 'I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.'"  Luke 10:21.

The joy of ministry success.

“The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”   Luke 10:17

And he said to them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall hurt you.” Luke 10:18  Luke 10:18

Jesus’ caution:  Be careful of spiritual accomplishments.

“Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20

Jesus’ encouragement:  Take greater joy in your salvation.

“Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20

Take Home Idea:   We must not center our joy in our spiritual accomplishments, but rather in the Lord’s approval and his gift of salvation.
