First Free Family,

A friend of mine shared with me recently a story of a man he knows, Fred Bednarski. When Fred was eight years old, he and his family were forced from Poland to a Nazi work camp in Austria, and Fred experienced life without liberty. He lived with fears from constant bombings, pressures to conform to an oppressive political system, and the uncertainties of his future. As you can imagine, the memory of General George Patten’s soldiers coming to rescue the Bednarski family is forever etched upon his mind and heart!

But Fred reminded my friend that there is a greater freedom we can all experience.  It is the freedom we have in Christ.

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
Yes, indeed! The freedom we experience in Jesus Christ through the power and presence of His Spirit is the greatest freedom of all. As we head into this highly charged political season, might we all celebrate this truth and might we live out that freedom as fearless ambassadors in our sphere of influence!

Here are some other church wide announcements we think you might want to know:

  • Feeling isolated? Sensing a disconnection from others? Ready to take the next step in your spiritual growth? Then check out how you might get connected into a community group at First Free by contacting Pastor Jay (jay.pound@firstfreechurch.org). New small groups are currently forming.

  • Have you lost a loved one? Not sure how you are going to navigate the holidays?  Coming up on Monday night, November 16th our GriefShare ministry will be hosting a special night called "Surviving the Holidays". This will be a virtual event from 7:00 p.m. — 9:00 p.m. via Zoom. For more information and to register, go to firstfreechurch.org/events.

  • This next Wednesday evening, Oct. 28th, from 7 p.m. — 8 p.m. we would love to have you join us for our weekly Zoom prayer meeting. This week we will be focusing on praying for our nation as our national elections take place next week. See Pastor Joel's email or call the church office for the Zoom meeting information.

This week might you walk in the freedom, liberty, and opportunities that God gives to you.

In Christ,
Pastor Joel
