Neighboring12:31 is a local, neighborhood mission trip in the city of Minneapolis and surrounding cities through First Free Church. We will have a specific focus on reaching out to our neighbors, which is where the name stems from—Mark 12:31 “…Love your neighbor as yourself…”
WHO ARE MY NEIGHBORS?
Your neighbors are those living next door, across the street, and behind you. And, your neighbors are anyone with whom you have or are developing a relationship, whether that’s a co-worker, boss, teacher, family member, friend, teammate, coach, or an organization you frequent or support.
WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?
First Free attendees will submit opportunities to be on a mission to serve and support each other’s neighbors, and any needs within our church body. We will rally to complete the projects and engage with others to strengthen the relationships being cultivated, so even when the team is done completing the project(s), the church attendee still has the relationship they will foster and grow. We’ll spend time getting to know one another better on the trip, too!
To submit a serving opportunity, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Everyone!!—seniors, adults, teens, and kids— there will be opportunities for different interests, and skill levels, whether you’re an experienced missionary or a beginner with a heart to serve.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Only $15 per person, $75 max for five or more family members. This includes your meals and helps pay for supplies we will need to complete some of the opportunities. We don’t want finances to stop you from participating, so if you aren’t able to pay, please talk with Pastor Jay before you register.
CAN MY CHILD TAKE A BREAK DURING THE TRIP?
Certainly! The pace of the mission trip will be at your discretion as a parent. You’ll be working alongside your child/ren so if you feel they need a break, we encourage you to allow them that! We will also have childcare available from 10 am.–1 p.m. and 2–5 p.m. on Saturday, August 10 for those who would like to leave their young children in loving hands as they engage in the community.
