Three Mind-Stretching Questions:

1) Is God unfaithful to His Word? (vv. 6-13)

  • No! God has not failed because Israel has failed. True Israel (true believers) have always come to God through His sovereign choice.

2) Is God unjust in His election? (vv. 14-18)

  • No! If anybody is lost, the blame is theirs, but if anybody is saved, the credit is God's.

3) Is God unfair in His purposes? (vv. 19-29)

  • No! God does not answer to anyone, is not responsible to anyone. God is sovereign and acts according to His own will and purposes.

Three Summary Statements:

1. God's sovereignty glorifies God.

2. God's sovereignty humbles us.

3. God's sovereignty invites us. (vv. 30-33)

Take Home Idea: God is not unfaithful, unjust, or unfair. He is Sovereign with noble purposes we cannot see or understand.

A Thought From God's Word:
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. [1 Peter 3:18a]
