Sanctification: A process. . . a work of God that develops you into a righteous person.

Two Pictures of who we are in Christ:

  • Baptism - our identity in Christ. (vv. 3-5)

  • Ex-Slave - our freedom in Christ. (vv. 7-8)

We have died to sin's control of us. (vv. 2, 8-10)

Principles that Set Us Free:

  • Realize you have died to sin. (vv. 3, 6, 9, 11)

  • Decide that sin will not control you. (vs. 12)

  • Choose, moment by moment, to live for God. (vv. 13-14)

Take Home Idea: God's grace not only saves us, it delivers us from sinning.

A Thought From God's Word:
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. [Ephesians 1:17-19a]
