Three Observations:

1) Jesus is continuing to deal with a heart-righteousness issue.

Matt. 5:17-20

2) The Pharisees are once again distorting scripture.

Deuteronomy 24:1-5:

Moses is moving back to the original design of marriage.

Pharisees loosened up the divorce law.

3) Jesus is teaching that they had missed the spirit of God's law.

Matthew 19:1-12:

Jesus goes back to God's original design for marriage.

Divorce is a divine concession given because of humanity's hardness of heart.

Jesus' radical view of marriage:

At the heart of marriage stands commitment, not love.

Take Home Idea: The heart of a radical marriage is not "as long as love shall last"; it is "as long as life shall last".

A Thought From God's Word:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. [Philippians 2:3-4]
