All The News We Choose. So Snooze

On Sunday, October 22, Agape will begin an extended series on 1 Timothy, Chapters 1-3, under the title of "My Three Sins."  Noted Punster-Teacher, Bruce Fleming, will attempt to preside over the often unruly bunch.  (For a complete listing of "the lesser gifts" see 2 Peterson 3:16 (sometimes known as "the gift exchange passage.")

Bruce has foolishly agreed to continue until we have all had enough, or until we are each down to three sins or less, whichever comes first.  We are hoping he stays on for a really long time and maybe even breaks the club record currently held by a recently retired superintendent-type person.  That popular teacher, who will remain unnamed, took us through the life of David at a pace that allowed more time to be spent on certain parts of David's life than David did.

The Rev. Fleming will interest us, challenge us and entertain us.  As most of you know he has previously dealt easily with jungle snakes , seminary students , corporate sharks, sanctimonious philanthropists and egotistical utopians.  To prove how brave he is, I have it on record that he hoped a "Tom-Peterson-Type-Person" might be there to keep him honest.   Even better would be to also include a "Dick-Miller-Type-Person" as well.

If the Gatherings return,
Will the Regatherings re-re-turn-turn
You can count on it even if you can't follow it.

And if they don't,
A reasonable facsimile will be invented.
Technicians are working around the clock…
Well, at least during the extra hour
we get when Daylight time changes.

Amnesty has been declared for wayward Agapites.  Even if you don't return this Sunday, no questions will be asked (and no back offerings required) to allow you the privilege of slinking back in and setting up a chair in the back row just like nothing happened at all.
