In Honor of Sarah Clinton: On Sunday, June 5, we will thank Sarah for her seven years of faithful service as Nursery Coordinator for our church.

Farewell Party for Lester & Theone Westlund: On June 5th the Seniors Class will have a time to honor the Westlunds and say goodbye to them during our fellowship time and ABF hour. Lester & Theone will be moving to Rockford, Illinois.

In Appreciation of Bob & Lois Chapman: Bob will be retiring as Visitation Pastor at the end of June. On Sunday, June 12, we will have a special time of appreciation for their years of care-giving during our service and fellowship time.

Women's Guild Salad Luncheon will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, June 7, at Verna Beckman's home, 9401 Lyndale Ave. S. Annette Cairns will be speaking.

Junior Church Hike: 4-6 graders meet in the church parking lot on June 4 at 9:00 AM. It is also necessary to call Mary at (612) 824-5573 or Ross (612) 824-7691 to reserve a place and get full details. The Spring Hike letter is on the website.

Missionary Prayer Calendar: Please use the back of your May Calendar to pray for missionaries in June and July. You will receive your next missionary calendar in August. Thanks!

Sports Camp

Supplies Needed:

  • Baseball and softball mitts, children's to adult sizes
  • T-ball equipment (especially a tee)
  • Foam bat and "waffle" balls
  • Rubber bases
  • Baseballs, softballs, soccer balls, volleyballs
  • Any other sports equipment that you are not using

There may be some additional items that we will have to purchase. If you are interested in contributing towards one of these items, contact Sue Stabnow at (952) 226-3344.

El Arca Orphanage

  • New backpacks and school supplies
  • New radios/CD players
  • New beach toys and items with an African theme

Pray for comfort for the family and friends of Millie Hines. She went home to be with the Lord on May 11, and her memorial service was held at First Free on May 20.

While in the DR, the mission team from our church has been asked to run a sports camp for the children at El Arca Orphanage. As a result, there are some additional items we would like to bring, and we need your help!

Items needed are as follows:

Ross Olson will be sharing his faith story this morning. He and his wife, Karin, have been members of First Free for many years. Ross is co-leader of Junior Church (4-6 grades) and the "instigator" of our famous Junior Church Hikes.

Youth Sunday & Baptisms: Don't miss this special service on Sunday, May 22. Our youth will lead worship, graduates will be honored, and a number of youth will be baptized.

Senior Singles Luncheon will be Sunday, May 22, 12:30 PM, at Steak 'n Ale.

Some suggestions are: backpacks, school supplies, small radios/CD players, school folders with pockets, file folders, sand/beach toys and pails, and small rubbery African animals, books, videos, photos, and games as they have an African theme for the summer.

Child Dedication: May God bless and strengthen the four families who will be dedicating their children to the Lord this morning. They are: Chris & Angie Hansen with Lily, Peter & Jessica McWilliams with Ryan, Bill & Pam Owen with Abigail & Jack, and Tom & DeNean Tisell with Willem.

Our Annual Meeting is Monday, May 9, at 7:00 PM. The following people have been nominated to serve: Caring Commission Chair: Vanessa Beckett; Nurture Commission Vice-Chair: Brenda Audette; Outreach Commission Vice-Chair: Grace Vandervort; Worship Chair: Julie Danielson; Finance & Property: Peter McWilliams, Charles Sawyer, and Bob (Hong) Gu; and Audit Committee: Doug Beckett.

Tree Climbers & Stockade Fire Rocket Races, Potluck and Overnight: All are welcome to come and enjoy the fun on Friday, May 13, at 6:30 PM. The evening will begin with a potluck followed by the rocket car races for boys in 1-6 grades. The overnight is for Stockade boys in 3-6 grades.

Camp Drivers Needed: The Union Gospel Mission has a number of children who would like to attend day camp at Gospel Hill this summer, but who are in need of a ride. The weeks of camp are from June 21 through August 8. Could you pick one week to help out? If you would like to know more, please call Roger Quant at (651) 228-1800 x 316.

Malice in The Palace: Our children's spring musical is tonight at 6:00 PM. The children's choir will present a creative story of queen Esther. (See insert in today's bulletin)

Commissions will not meet tonight, except for the Outreach Commission at 4:30 PM.

Council will meet tonight at 7:30, following the children's musical.

Our Annual Meeting is Monday, May 9, at 7:00 PM. National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 5, from 12:30-2:00 PM at the Minnesota State Capital.

VBS Painting Day, Saturday, May 7, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Come for an hour or for the whole day. Lunch will be served at 12:30 PM. If you have paint brushes (of any size) please bring them. We are also looking for paint in the following colors; black, white, grey/silver, bright yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, and red. If you have questions, contact Sherie McClun.

A Service of Baby Dedication is planned for Mother's Day, May 8. If you would like to dedicate your child, please call the church office at (612) 827-4705.
