40 Days of Purpose

October 1, 2002

Dear Church Family,

ON OCTOBER 12 we will begin 40 Days of Purpose, a 6-week spiritual growth campaign that is designed to answer the question, "What on earth am I here for?" Together, our entire church family will learn about God's five purposes for our lives, and we will have opportunities to take steps of growth in each of the five purposes.

To receive the full benefit of these 40 life-changing days, you will want to participate in each spiritual emphasis:

  • Hear all seven-weekend messages in the series, 40 Days of Purpose.
  • Read the 40 daily readings in The Purpose Driven Life book by Rick Warren. These readings will guide you in your personal journey to discover God's purposes for your life.
  • Join a Purpose-Driven Life Adult Bible Fellowship. Each Sunday morning following our worship service we have adult classes that meet from 11:00 am - 12 noon. If you are not currently involved in one, I want to encourage you to find one that fits you during the campaign and get connected!
  • Memorize a simple Bible verse each week that will focus you on God's purposes.

I would also like to invite you to join me at the National Simulcast, Saturday, October 12 at 9:00 a.m. in the Main Sanctuary. During this exciting kick-off event we will join with 1,500 other churches, who are also doing this Campaign, to listen to Pastor Rick Warren, the author of the book upon which the Campaign is based, called The Purpose Driven Life. When you come to the Simulcast you will receive The Purpose Driven Life book free of charge, Pastor Rick will share his life message, and he will give an inspirational overview of the five purposes.

I cannot overemphasize how important it is that all of us attend the Simulcast. This is a great way to jump-start the Campaign, and it will be exciting to get a glimpse of the great spiritual adventure that is in store for us over the next six weeks.

Will you commit to making 40 Days of Purpose a priority for you and your family? Imagine the impact on our community if the members of our church were all committed to living out God's purposes for their lives! There is no better investment of your time in this next 40 days.

Get ready to have your life changed and to be blessed!

Pastor Joel Sutton
