Greetings from Verna Thompson

To my dear friends at First Free Church,

You are often in my thoughts and I thank God for you and your faithfulness in prayer and support. Because of my failing eyesight, I am unable to send you individual cards, but I do want to give all of you greetings for a wonderful Christmas season and God's richest blessings in the new year.

Greetings from Helga, too!

In Christian Love,
Verna Thompson

Church Staff Announcement

Due to health concerns, Charlie Sawyer resigned as First Free Church Custodian and Boiler Operator as of November 14, 2000. He thanks the church for the opportunity to serve these past two years and states that it has been a privilege for him.

On behalf of the staff, I'd like to thank Charlie for his dedication, for his reliability, and for the many times he worked quietly, behind the scenes to help events run smoothly. Thank you, Charlie! -Michelle Casper

Church Council Announcement

The Church Council wishes to announce that Rev. Robert Fallt has accepted the offer to become Interim Pastor of First EFC. He will begin his Interim Pastoral duties beginning Sunday, March 11, 2001, and continue until our church secures a full time Senior Pastor. He will be devoting approximately twenty hours per week to: preaching on Sunday mornings, leading the mid-week prayer service, assisting with hospital & sick calls, conducting funerals, and encouraging & providing direction to individuals as needed.

Rev. Fallt will be filling our pulpit during the month of December (except the 24th) and on January 7, 2001. He will also lead communion services the first Sunday in December and January. Robert and Margaret had previously set aside vacation and will be traveling during January and February. We anticipate their return to us on Sunday, March 11, 2001.

The Prayer Room

Bob Chapman

Concert of Prayer - What a great time we had together -- cold and blustery outside, but so warm inside. It was a wonderful time. Thank you to the (even better) Planters for leading us in meaningful worship, and for the Worship Commission's good planning. Look forward to another of these!

Fasting & Prayer - Those of us who missed this special event really missed a good one. It was long - true. It was intense - true. But it was significant. Looking back on it, we will want to do this again and it will be worth making time to attend. There is so much to choose from these days, but this one needs to move up in our priorities.

Prayer Projects - Thanks to all of you that are praying for particular people and groups at our church! How about contacting that person (if you can), or someone from that group to let them know you are praying and to ask if they have any special prayer requests.

Where two or three - Are you praying regularly with someone else these days: with a prayer partner, in a prayer group, small group, or even over the telephone? We need to be a part of what Jesus was talking about when he said where two or three are gathered together, He will be with them -- that was said in the context of prayer. This is such a neat thing to do with those who are housebound! We need to recruit these folks for a most significant involvement in the church -- prayer.

Don't forget the Blackaby tapes. They are so good! Listen on your way to work, or while you're cleaning the kitchen.

A Thought From God's Word:
[Jesus Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. [Colossians 1:15-17]
