Biography/Description of Ministry

I committed my life to Christ when I was 17 years old. God put on my heart a desire to share Christ with others and to help make disciples. I graduated from the University of Michigan in 1978 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and promptly joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. In 1985 I started my M.A. degree in Philosophy of Religion at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School In 1986, I married Bridget McManus.

We moved to the Twin Cities in 1987 to minister to college students, and Brian was born in 1989. In 1991, I started working with international students at the U of MN. In 1994, I changed ministry organizations to work with China Outreach Ministries to focus on just Mainland Chinese students and scholars.

Why am I motivated to work with Chinese? China's brightest and potentially most influential people are coming here to the U.S. to study. Once they arrive, they are curious and open to finding out about Christianity. Chinese who come to faith and return are often placed in positions where they are able to make a big difference for Christ in China!

In 1999 I also became part-time the Area Director for the Midwest for COM and in 2000 I also became Director of Training. Locally, with the addition of other staff plus volunteers, the ministry grew and many Chinese at the U of MN were reached.

Bridget passed away in March 2011 after a battle with cancer. In 2014, I met Teresa Ng of Orlando, FL, a widow. Teresa is from China but has lived in the U.S. since 1977. In May 2015, I moved to Orlando and married Teresa. I am focusing more on training COM staff around the country while I continue as the Midwest Area Director and engage in personal ministry with Chinese students and scholars at the University of Central Florida.
